'Uncle' sort of flourished in Adelaide in the early 90's - he may have used
the christian name Bart as well. He sponsored races and had the naming
rights for them.

I answered a question* on a website connected to him and consequently won a
months supply of tips, daily, and two of his lessons, and some other
writings of his.

Uncle was big on advice, some of it not bad.

(1) If the horse you fancy has had a run at distance longer than its race
today, and was competitive, it is the making of a good bet in todays race.
That's mildly ambiguous, and Uncle didn't give much else in the way of
stats or other advice. But if you do a bit of analyzing you may well find
the winner today
has had a good run at a longer distance in its recent racing record.

(2) The family connection. If the horse is owned by the family of the
trainer and ridden by somebody with the same name then he considers that to
be a 'sure thing'.

(3) 'Women' -the apostrophes are his, he used them when writing about women,
on course. Uncle maintains that woman have an advantage when selecting a
horse.
There is some subliminal aura, I think he meant magnetism, that woman have
when inspecting a horse and assessing its potential. I'm not going to write
anymore about that.

(4) Jockeys are very important

(5) Trainers are more important than jockeys if it is they who have decided
its placement in the upcoming race. That is ambiguous also.

The System: In the upcoming race back the runner which has had a recent
start in a race longer than the race today.
That's it although Uncle imparts some secondary rules it all shrinks back to
what is written in the first line. There may be two or more fulfilling the
selection criteria.

*The question was: which horse won the race named after him the previous
Saturday. I researched that, got the name, then answered 'the mare' - it
being a mares race.
The answer was accepted and I got numerous emails over the next weeks, daily
in fact, with his selections, his spreadsheets, his writings and ruminations
on the punt.
Perhaps I was the only responder, or something.

Cheers

Tony
