This book was home printed - the 3rd and ninth pages are reversed in my
version, upside down and backwards although blank on the reverse.
Wattle (Ms,Mrs,Mr) had been a weight scheme reverent (they said) although
they became a little annoyed because, well, weight ratings mean you are
locating, identifying, selecting then backing the same horse (essentially).
There had to be a different way and this is their version of that.
(1) rank the allocated weights, high to low - I have used 1 to 7, any weight
beyond rank 7 is a 7 - they used stones/pounds anyway
(2) ascertain each runner last start finish position.
(3) the last start finish position determines its weight allocation in the
upcoming race. Finished third last start, its theoretical weight allocation
should be the 3 rd rank in weights in this race.
Eg 60(1),58(2), 57.5(3) THEREFORE its third last start means its theoretical
weight allocation this race should be 57.5 (3rd rank)
(4) Determine its advantage/disadvantage by comparing its weight allocated
now to its theoretical weight allocation - is there an advantage, is it
handicapped at a lesser weight?
(5) Zero the results of the scheme so that the best treated runner is on
O(zero) however the horses in contention are those between -1.5 kgs thru O
and up to +1.5kgs - a spread of three kgs.
That's it. There are no suggestions for betting, set weights, distance races
etc.
Today
MR9 - Winner was on +1 (56.5 in this race, assessed at 55.5 off last start
finish position) and there were 6 within 3kgs
MR8 - Winner was on +2 (not selected) 2nd and third were selected and there
was one other, unplaced. This was the $126 winner, Romancer.
MR7 - Winner was on -3 (not selected) 2nd and third were selected however
there were too many selections, 5 over
MR6 - Winner was on +1 ( 55kgs in this race, assessed at 56 off last start
4th), 3rd +1.5 and 4th (0) also selected
Doomben Cup - winner and third selected (0)
There were winners (and losers) selected all day - is it the last start
finish position that is promoting the runners into contention or the error
(or otherwise) of the handicapper allocating the weights!!
Another way, perhaps.
Cheers
Tony
