Michael was known to be working on his bets when they jumped and he really
needed a bookie that would take his two picks, or more, after the off. That
is how we met. Him in his pork pie hat, denim and boots, often with a kid in
company.
Mike looked at the past runs of acceptances, then decided on a form point,
3rd, 4th or fifth if there were 14 or more in the race. He counted the
number of places each horse had scored, achieved, in their previous
endeavors then ranked the results.
Say it was fifth, he counted the number of times each runner scored a fifth
or better in its form record and recorded that. He determined those runners
who had the most and the runner with the most, and the next best, became his
bets. He fine-tuned that, if he had time, by taking the scores from the last
4 runs using <=3 as a base - a form line of 2222 would show as a 4, 1245 =
2, he was looking for the number of times in the last 4 runs that this
runner scored a 3 or better. The other way was to choose those who had
scored 5 or less in the last ten runs (if this was possible) and he
expressed this as a percentage viz, 8 runs say, 4 runs scored less
than/equal 5, 4 divided by 8 = 50%
Eg
MR8 5,7(won4.20)
SR7 3,2 (won 8.40)
MR7 16,12 (2nd) but if he was using <=3 he got the winner
SR 6 5 (won 2.20)
MR6 Too many selected from <=5, however <=3 got 1st and 3rd
SR5 10,5 (won 5.20)
MR5 Fail
Mike said he was going to Argentina, he may have, because I didn't see him
at the races after that.
Another way - probably
Cheers
Tony
