Favourites

Mr Manfroi was a gambling tutor in Melbourne. You paid him money and went to
his room in Lonsdale Street where you were taught the fine art of how to
gamble.

He had several systems. Some of these are in the archives here.

The favourites system depends on you recognizing horses resuming from a
break of more than 5 weeks (more than 35 days away - it could be months, or
last year)

SO Rule (1) The runner must have resumed from a spell of more than 5 weeks.
Rule (2) The runner must be in its 5th or less run after resuming from a
spell of more than 5 weeks.
Rule (3) The runner must be the on course favourite this run. This could be
first up from a spell, 2nd up, 3rd up, 4th or 5th run back from a spell.
Rule (4) The runner must be 'in the first third of the field'. If there are
9 runners it will be TAB 1 or 2 or 3. If there are 12 runners, it will be
TAB 1,2,3,or 4.

Some explanations:
Rule 4 is included so that the system devotee is betting on a runner which
has qualified for the class of race. The higher weights and low TAB numbers
may insure this.
Favourites can appear anywhere in the race field but the system wants them
'in the first third of the field'.

Rule 3.Today, now, there can be two favourites, fixed and tote prices.
Perhaps choose the runner which is the fav with 5 minutes to go.

Rule 2. Manfroi maintains that runners peak in the first 5 runs after a
spell (of more than 5 weeks). Less than 5 weeks away is a 'let up' more for
the purpose of 'quitening' the runner.

Forget the runner if it is in its 6th or great start after a spell (of
greater than 35 days, of course)

In the course notes Manfroi states that picks achieved 100% places and 58%
winning with 11 wins consecutively on two occasions. No details are given
although this was in the 50"s and 60"s

On Saturday 27/08/22 I found one contender - Rosehill R1 Zaru, 3rd

Another version of this (TrueForm - Ambrose Taylor) has you waiting until
the horse is paying $1.80 place, or less-7/2 win approx.)

Another way? - I'll let you know

Cheers

Tony
