Earlier this morning I complained to Sportsbet about similarly restricting
me to win $200 ($85.96 @ 3.30 place #1) at 9:01, and they replied that:

" It appears that the limited stake shown in the screen shot below may be
due to the general restrictions on your account"

 

"general restrictions" that override their obligation to abide by the MBL; I
wonder what they are! I'm 99% sure the NTRC will find a weasel-worded,
legally incompetent, way to find for Sportsbet as they have in every case
I've formally complained about.

 

Do these craven cowards and incompetent raters think I am so superior to the
plethora of corporate "whiz-kids", on-course bookmakers, professional
punters, ... rating this Group 1 $600k race that I should be allowed to only
bet $2.24? FFS, I was betting that much with an SP bookmaker at high school
55 years ago!

Aaron is the great grandson of Patrick Christopher Handland, a
criminal from the UK, where he had been convicted of rape and after
parole came to Australia where he was again convicted of rape, and on
release, was again sentenced for 14 offences committed in two days,
some of that stealing from prostitutes, stealing from a tram customer,
which had an element of violence attached to it, but he pleaded guilty
to stealing, and it appears the robbery allegations got withdrawn, or
overlooked, and he did a further time in Bathurst jail. He got paroled
before the war and went to Broken Hill and a job, married and had
children. In a few years he left Australia, and his family
responsibilities, to settle in Argentina and nothing much is known of
him from that point. 
Aaron maintains he is a pure as the driven snow but his Dad, his Dad
was a worry. His grandfather likewise, convicted of stealing cattle,
he was keeping them for a friend was his defence, believable until he
banked the cheque for their sale, after the Police interview. He was
implicated in a few of those cattle stealing matters, and avoided hard
labour by 'helping inquiries' as to who had what now, who knew, and it
is said it took the Police some investigation time to get through all
the information and Grandfather was not spared from appearing before
His Honour. He got time and the family moved on without him, the
grandfather.
The Dad did the despicable, he wrote and sold betting systems, under
various names in various states.
The family have changed their name now, the quick move to
respectability, actually I think great granny orchestrated that when
her man went to Argentina, way back, but Aaron is bemused by his
lineal path, smiles when grandfathers gone are discussed and gave up
the bank to be a tattooist. My copy was given to me by Aaron after a
previous discussion about systems at the races once, and it was then
that I got the history report over a smoke and a mug of tea. 
"Path to Riches" is a few pages in a booklet, advertised in the racing
pages and sold through a post box in Brickfield Hill, downtown Sydney.
It cost $100, postage paid and the bottom third of the last page
explains why you won't get your money back, don't bother essentially,
ok.
The author states that form placings are old fashioned. The prices of
the runners at their last three starts are utilised to determine the
bets in the upcoming race. This is what the results here are based on
also. There are two pages of results.
It is another way. It doesn't consider race strength, or much at all
actually, except you determine the better runners off their last few
prices, regardless of finish position, and the author argues
rightfully, that the money determines the intent of the runner, it may
be unfortunate that it wasn't able to score a place then, when the
money was on, it may still have ability for this race as the backers
of the last few runs thought so too. How does the price formline
compare to the formline natural?
No mode of investigation is shown, just the advice that examining the
prices will help you decide your upcoming bets. No betting
recommendations are made. This is the Path to Riches, the author has
shown you the way, the next is up to you. This man could give system
authors a bad name.
In practice
Sydney Race9 yesterday
The winner Osborne Bulls had a formline 1121, its price line was
1.75,3.7,3.90,3.20. The formline is impressive as is the priceline
either added or what I did was involve them all by multiplying them
together (1.75*3.70*3.90*3.20) then divide that result by the longest
dividend 80.808/3.90=20.72.
This is the value attributable to this runner. I divided the product
by 3.90, the longest dividend because if I was to determine the
formline I would do the same thing, give credit to the runner for one
off run. Osborne Bull had good form and good priceline form and was
the better runner in this field. It seems 12 and 13 were next best and
they filled the placings. Not convinced, I'm not.
Race 8 Francaletta was the best performed and it placed.
Race 7 Alizee, Moss Trip, Melody Bell were amongst the contenders and
they did not feature in the finish.
Race 6 Winx was top pick. Jemadar was perhaps next, unplaced.
Race 5 Selected 2 and 3 which ran 1st and 2nd
Race 4 Select 2, 2nd, although I used some voodoo to get a third div,
an average.
Race 3 legend of Condor maybe, 2nd
Race 2 Select 10,12 and 3 - finish 1st,2nd and 4th
Race 1 Select 6 and 12 - 1st and 4th
Melbourne yesterday
R9- 3,12,13
R8 3,6
R7 11,13,15
R6 4 -overseas form
R5 10,15
R4 8,4
R3 1,9
R2 nil suitable
R1 nil suitable
So some winners there, and places, and some also rans.
Doomben was promising - I'll leave that up to you.

It is another way.

Summary: The sp of the last four starts are examined to locate the
best qualified runner(s) in the upcoming race.

Another gutless, incompetent "bookmaker"

Cut me to $9 @ 2.00 Place Orange 7/6. Ran at 2.35 Sportsbet and Ladbrokes.
Risking $9.00!!!!

Presumably they laid off at 2.35 and made a couple of bucks for God knows
how much effort - the minnows manually check each of my bets and decided in
this case to risk $9, so why would they not lay it off? Pathetic begets
extra pathetic. 

 

Pathetic does not do Sportingbet.com.au justice.

 

PS, Racing Victoria not only did not acknowledge my complaint against
Centrebet's refusal of MBL bets, but did not even reply to my request of
acknowledgement of the complaint. 

We all know, or should know, whose side those tasked with protecting punters
are on - the corporates, not  the punters, the corporates, not the on-course
bookies.

 

Amazing what being treated to the corporate boxes does to one's principles.

Earlier this morning I complained to Sportsbet about similarly restricting
me to win $200 ($85.96 @ 3.30 place #1) at 9:01, and they replied that:
 
" It appears that the limited stake shown in the screen shot below may be
due to the general restrictions on your account"
 
 
 
"general restrictions" that override their obligation to abide by the MBL; I
wonder what they are! I'm 99% sure the NTRC will find a weasel-worded,
legally incompetent, way to find for Sportsbet as they have in every case
I've formally complained about.
 
 
 
Do these craven cowards and incompetent raters think I am so superior to the
plethora of corporate "whiz-kids", on-course bookmakers, professional
punters, ... rating this Group 1 $600k race that I should be allowed to only
bet $2.24? FFS, I was betting that much with an SP bookmaker at high school
55 years ago!

Yesterday I attempted to post, just after 9am, a list of suggested place
bets to be placed with Sportsbet - as they have barred me from all bets, I
thought I would post them publicly to be used to bet, bet against or ignore
as Ausracers choose.

 

But as so often is the case, it did not make the list, I got the "Your
membership in the mailing list Racing has been disabled due to excessive
bounces" line, and the results I posted at the end of the day came out in a
convoluted format,  almost indecipherable.

 

There were 23 suggested bets (the basis being likely shorteners).

 

The morning line odds averaged 174% of final Sportsbet odds, so that panned
out as predicted. 1 scratching, 1 steady, 3 drifted and 18 shortened.

Return at level stake, 110% (10% profit), betting to win $500 which
Sportsbet restricts everyone but bunnies to, would have been a $3,095 outlay
for a $4,315 return, 1349% (39% profit).

 

I will try again today to post just after 9, if it fails, give up.

Ok, thanks Tony; yesterday morning's posts did not make it to me, so I
assumed not to anyone. I see they are on the archives. I'll continue to post
with fingers crossed while I am barred from betting with SB.

 

How do you arrive at your selections - multiple rules or?

 

Firstly, SB has to be top odds of the bookies I monitor. Obviously?

Then I have a medley of rules that pick out those that tend to shorten -
shortening does not guarantee winning of course, but you are rationally
indisputably better off long-term getting the early odds rather than the
final about shorteners. When betting to win a fixed amount (eg as imposed by
MBL, well by those who adhere strictly to it like BetZero and unlike
Centrebet, ClassicBet, Crownbet who ignore it at will) the price you get
about winners is obviously irrelevant, but getting better prices about
losers makes you while getting worse prices breaks you; and not even the
best of us knows which will be which.

 

Over a long period, those rules have resulted in selecting horses where the
early Sportsbet place odds average 33% better than the final odds -
yesterday's 74% was way above average - and that is likely enough to make
one a long-term winner. 

 

Why bet place rather than win? Because under MBL you can bet more.  Gosford
7 for example, an unremarkable market: fingers crossed it is readable. It
shows that betting to win $400 the place all runners, you can get more on
all runners than you can betting to win $1k straight out - between 35% and
78% more, and an average 53% more.

See how the results format:

 

9 runners, 7 shortened, 2 lengthened, average early SB odds / final SB odds
=1.68 (68% "better")

Level stake return 43% (66% loss)

Betting to win $500 return 51% (49% loss) .

Two days total betting to win $500 (SB's MBL) +1221  - 1056 = +165, so
barring me has not caused me a major problem. Yet.

SPOT THE "ERROR"? So common in touted systems claimed results - they don't
take account of how your bets would affect a dividend (TABs; which is why it
is better to bet with a bookie at TAB odds if they don't bet back, but how
do you know?) and deductions for late scratchings at fixed odds.

In this case there were 2 late scratchings in Stoney Creek 5, with SB
deduction 20% and 12%, making the returns even worse, and the 1.68 figure
lesser, but still high at 1.46.

Average early odds divided by final odds 1.57 (57% average higher early -
large shorteners). The overall average is <1 as on average most runners
drift - the market becomes closer to 100% as race time nears.

Return at level stake=1.80 (80% profit), at SB's usual limit of Place to win
$500 = 1.61 (61% profit)

The number of price changes for a particular runner is a good
indicator of intent I have found - this information is available from
Dynamic Odds. 

The following shows the number of fluctuations for Adelaide Cup field
today - data from SB,Bet365,Ubet, summed and displayed. This is
post-race, at least or after the jump anyway.

Winner Fanatic had 66 movements, and crowd favourite Jamie Kah on
Raindrops on Roses had 81, it was unplaced but may be worth following
because of the interest in it here, perhaps?

In Saturdays Newmarket, winner RedKirk Warrior had 44 hits, around the
average for a few runners, however Rock Magic had 70, for 4th, so it
may be watched next outing.

 

It's just another way - this data is after the jump. Leading up to
decision, within the last 2 minutes say, there can be marked changes
to the fluctuations, a great number I mean.

 

Tote div history may be overdone - Dynamic has this data too. I take
that feed and graph the runner divs as the changes arrive - it's
pretty, but inconclusive.

There is some writing on tracking and predicting dividend settling -
Malcolm Knowles did some of this in The Wizard centre pages, 25+ years
ago and his software ESP does just that, or did. It went awol at
Windows XP or there abouts.

Ok, thanks Tony; yesterday morning's posts did not make it to me, so I
assumed not to anyone. I see they are on the archives. I'll continue
to post with fingers crossed while I am barred from betting with SB.

 

How do you arrive at your selections - multiple rules or?

 

Firstly, SB has to be top odds of the bookies I monitor. Obviously?

 

Then I have a medley of rules that pick out those that tend to shorten
- shortening does not guarantee winning of course, but you are
rationally indisputably better off long-term getting the early odds
rather than the final about shorteners. When betting to win a fixed
amount (eg as imposed by MBL, well by those who adhere strictly to it
like BetZero and unlike Centrebet, ClassicBet, Crownbet who ignore it
at will) the price you get about winners is obviously irrelevant, but
getting better prices about losers makes you while getting worse
prices breaks you; and not even the best of us knows which will be
which.

 

Over a long period, those rules have resulted in selecting horses
where the early Sportsbet place odds average 33% better than the final
odds - yesterday's 74% was way above average - and that is likely
enough to make one a long-term winner. 

 

Why bet place rather than win? Because under MBL you can bet more.
Gosford 7 for example, an unremarkable market: fingers crossed it is
readable. It shows that betting to win $400 the place all runners, you
can get more on all runners than you can betting to win $1k straight
out - between 35% and 78% more, and an average 53% more.

The Newmarket Handicap, Flemington Saturday, is the subject of several
systems that I know of, it has been around a while.


(1) If the runner featured in the Lightning Stakes at Flemington and
is entered to run in the Newmarket, and its conditions and
circumstances remain, then it is a selection.
 This from the 20's in a book. The circumstances and conditions
requirement are the same rider, weight, weather. 

The Lightning is 1000 metres and the Newmarket is 1200 metres, that is
allowed. Yesterday winner came into the race through the Lightning
Handicap and the circumstances and conditions were the same. Weight
difference is 1kg. The Lightning is wfa, the Newmarket is conditional
handicap. 

The conditions and circumstances rules hamper selections, they are too
exclusive but that nebulous reasoning was common back then (and now),
I wrote it therefore it is although no reasoning or support is
provided. I imposed a 1 kg rule to the selections, to counter the wfa
handicapping.

Supido, Rock Magic Missrock also came through the Lightning, all had
weight changes, reflecting their class, and the latter two had rider
changes also.

RedKirk Warrior remained after the cull, and it won.

Last year, RedKirk Warrior did not qualify through the Lightning Hcp
and it won.

Those that did qualify were TerraVista, Speith, Illustrious Lad, Star
Turn, Counter Attack.
Deleted because of the rider clause - Counter Attack, Star Turn.
Deleted because of the weight clause - Spieth, Illustrious Lad, Star
Turn, Counter Attack

Terravista qualified as the system runner and was unplaced.

Using my own rubbery selection equation I could qualify  Spieth4,
Sheidel2, Voodoo Lad1 first up, Star Turn3, Supercash3,Redkirk
Warrior10 and first up. I narrowed them down to Star Turn, 3rd and
Sheidel and Supercash and a race to stay away from -but that is me.

The XX Longshot Plan - you work on 7 races throughout the year.
(a)	Grand National Steeplechase -the selection is the runner which
finished 4th or 5th or 6th in the Kensington Steeplechase a week
earlier. If the runner who came 4th is entered, it is the selection.
Disregard other entries. If there are no runners from the Q race there
is no bet on the GN
(b)	Footscray Steeplechase - if there is a runner in this that
came 4th or 5th or 6th in the Kensington Steeplechase then it becomes
the selection. Disregard other entries.
(c)	Australian Steeplechase - the selection is the horse which won
the Godfrey Watson Steeplechase or the horse which ran second in that
race.
(d)	Spring Stakes - the selection is the topweight.
(e)	Caulfield Guineas - same selection as the Spring Stakes but
only if it won the Spring Stakes.
(f)	Melbourne Cup - the selection is the runner who finished 2nd
in the Caulfield Cup
(g)	Sandown Guineas - the selection is the filly who did best of
the 4th,5th,6th in The Oaks.

Back to the Newmarket system - a runner in the Lightning Hcp qualifies
as a selection if conditions and circumstances are similar - weather,
jockey, weight.

In 1982, for instance, Razor Sharp won the race 10/1,10.8, having run
in the Lightning Hcp. He's a Haze was another and Papal Bull, both
unplaced in this running

In 1981, Elounda Bay won the Newmarket after running in the Lightning
Stakes, in race record time 10/1 11.4. Aare and Watney were other
runners

In 1980, Scomeld and Bit of a Skite ran in the Lighting Stakes but
were unplaced  in the Newmarket, won by Dor Kon, who was at 33/1, and
was 25/1 at his previous start, which he won also (Hawkesburn Hcp) and
he had been very short in two earlier runs interstate. There is a plan
to trap Hawksburn Hcp runners when entered in the Newmarket. 

In 1970, Black Onyx won 8/1 G Moore after winning the Lightning
Stakes. 3/1. Etc.

There is a plan that requires selections running in the Oakleigh Plate
and backing up in the Newmarket to be selected also.

There is a plan applied to The Straight Six, another once a year
event, but that has 3 or 4 lead up races to consider and scores highly
for placegetters - something that happens when 5 or so selections are
running for you.

You can't back them all. Actually, you can, there is a TAB button for
that, but I am saying you can't profit doing that. There may be a plan
in existence that will select all runners, because of some
happenstance in a previous moment, different for all but which
conforms with a selection rule, somehow.

There are a few racecourses in Victoria, some with training
facilities. 

 

I worked for a man in central Victoria for a while and he had
racehorses, his family did. He was not connected with their training,
or anything too much really, that was the job of the trainer, picking
the races, getting a jockey, feeding, watering, exercising, the things
that trainers do. All of this means, or requires organisation, and it
seems this trainer didn't have that. 

The Boss horses were brown, and that was the total of their
similarity, one was a mare, the other a gelding, one had a white
fetlock, the other three, one was twice the size of the other. It was
that last trait that caused some laughter in the stewards room once.

 

Rover, the girl, and Drover, the gelding were their stable names.

 

Rover was entered in a race one day at a different town although it
depended on some variables if she got a start or not. She could be
balloted out. She was this day, excluded, one reason being she had no
jockey, non-declared, up to 11.00am. The plan by the trainer was to
find some kid when he got there, he said that, he told the stewards,
the other being she was the last horse nominated and did not meet the
form criteria for the race, for horses with up to two wins in the
District, and she had no wins anywhere. She was not on course at the
required time also, they had to be in the stalls a couple of hours.
They had a full field, 14 may be, there being no spare kids, Rover was
balloted out. The trainer stayed for the races, left Rover, tethered
and thirsty and meant to return home in the cool evening. The owner
found this out, the trainer had not informed him that Rover was being
nominated, to be excluded.

 

Rover had been entered in a second race, the next day, on her home
course, as a back up to anything preventing her running the first day,
the day when there was no jockey, insufficent form, out of class, late
arrival. The second nomination, the second day, was never supposed to
be a backup for the first calamities. The trainer spoke to a kid at
the first race meeting and they struck up a deal for him to ride Rover
the next day, he was going to be there for other rides, so yeah,
pleased to. So he used the race secretary fax and fired off a form,
confirming Rover running, with a jockey, in tomorrows race, he was a
day late, but it was done.

 

The owner found the following out, the trainer had not informed him
that Rover was nominated for this upcoming race.

 

The trainer tried to get away, in the cool of the evening, but there
was the social aspect, then they asked to borrow his float, two horse
size and they would be back pronto, promise. By 2.00am the party was
winding down for day one, the trainer had been asleep in the back seat
of his car, when his float was delivered to him, and thanks all round.
Rover was ok, moved out of the wind, watered, a feed, a good feed too,
borrowed from one of the big boys down river, and well, he, the
trainer, was so tired. So he went to sleep with the best intentions of
leaving first thing, an easy run on a good road, straight to the
course, meet the staff there, he had other runners and a good
supervisor. He slept on until the birds made it impossible to do so.

 

He woke up in the sunny morning and went to check on Rover and she had
moved, she was now picking at the grass near the fence of the car park
and played a little game with him before acceding to capture and
loading on the float. He was late, he knew it, and he rang the yard
and spoke to his man. It seems an indictment, a blight really, that
the next thing occurred, the three stable employees were involved.
They took Drover to the course as Rover, not to undertake the race,
just be the four legged requirement in the runner stalls and not incur
the wrath of the stewards, yesterday they warned him, perhaps not
again today. It was dumb what they did, but they did it. Essentially
they took Drover from his nap after a feed, Drover, the blue whale of
the District, he is big, he is big and known, and today he was Rover,
even bandaged on his front feet, like Rover is on race days, and
Drover is never bandaged, he is clean legged all year.

 

The first inspection came and went, all good, stall R6, a brown horse,
discernible mark on shoulder, dimple on neck, strapper in attendance.
Second walk through stall R6, farrier in attendance, filing, plate
decision unknown, plates on. No mention or recognition that Drover was
a male, and Rover, absent at present, was a girl, a horse with a girls
name, something, something Thora, truly.

 

The trainer was on the way, in fact, he came off the ridge just then
and he could see the silos in the distance and the course is in their
shadow, all good. He parked outside and unloaded Rover and tied her to
the float, he went and got Drover, and quietly walked him around the
back to a row of stalls and tethered him there. He went and got Rover
and took her through the washing bay, just a refresher, the legs, the
belly, she likes the hose on her neck, she is a bit skittish, she is a
bit worked up, ready to race really he said. Poor Rover hasn't worked
a muscle for a couple of days, had grass for breakfast, although she
had the best horse gourmet last night. 

 

Rover was installed, brushed, bandaged on her front and the trainer
went to attend to other business, clients, horses, two others, the
jockey. The stall steward, or whatever his title, wanted an answer
regarding Drover. He is out of his stall, why, and he is not nominated
to race today, why is he here. He is here for comfort for Rover and I
tied him there while I dealt with business associated with training,
he said. Oh well, the Stewards may hear about this. The Secretary said
don't worry about it. The stewards did come, and invited him back
afterwards, about the late jockey nomination for starters, and well
there were other things, we will talk about them with you then.

 

The trainer wanted details there and then, he felt compromised, he
felt he had done something wrong, terrible, the jockey factor was one,
unavoidable really, there had been runners excluded because of the
non-appearance of jockeys up this way before. The stewards were
forthright, transparent, it is about Drover occupying Rovers stall,
being Rover-like while the real deal was still arriving. The trainer
felt strongly enough to say he would not allow his horse to run, he
felt picked on, compromised, he had a slight delay getting on course,
he had been warned about slackness, their word for lateness the day
before, he had not meant to be contemptible, he did not trick the
stewards, he was running a business and sometimes this requires
decisions not normal. So they left him for the time being, and
questioned the staff, why was Drover bought over, and of course they
told them why, for what reason, and apologised for being stupid.

 

Rover was scratched, the jockey got paid in the circumstances, just
his fee. Drover got away and like his stable mate, had a nibble of the
grass in the car park. The trainer was informed he should remain on
course today, the stewards had questions. His other runners would be
scratched as it was interpreted that the trainer wanted that, he said
that, he had said he had finished running his horses in this District.
He may have been rash in saying that, and denied he meant it to be,
but the receiver of the tirade heard it, as did the secretary and the
girls in the kitchen and probably some in the grandstand. So the
stewards asked him separately for each horse, the others and not
Rover, and he asked to re-consider, he had a public relations storm
with 4 groups of owners if he withdrew and scratched everything else
today, so they stayed in and ran. There was no joy from them.

 

My boss, the owner of Rover and Drover, Exposure, Clover, Sober and
some others known more for their real names and not the apparent
espionage swapping of titles, arrived on course to be told by the
trainer staff what had happened, and an apology. He laughed, it's just
a game he said, just an interest, until the hearing when he was told,
in the pre-amble, that Rover, and perhaps Drover, could be outed, was
there subterfuge or deception, was Drover going to run, he was
bandaged, explain that, explain the thinking behind occupying a runner
stall with the mammoth of the District, why is that not holding the
stewards in contempt when the only reason, you say, was to inform the
stewards by demonstration, that a runner purporting to be Rover was on
course.

 

There was some funny aspects to all of this, sadness too, which is may
be what comedy is, sadness or tragedy re-visited really. The trainer
said he had the best interests of his clients and his horses. The
stewards maintained he did not. He had his best interests to
forefront, and by substituting Drover for Rover had ridiculed the
racing authority in the District. There were measurements mentioned,
hands, weights, gender, the bandages, what were you thinking they
asked his staff, tell us there is a problem then resolve it they said,
don't do that, don't use Drover for that. The second steward is a big
man, a full forward in a Riverina League some time previous, the
stenographer is tiny, like 5 stone, and the steward got them to stand
side by side for the benefit of the committee and he asked now, 'which
one is Rover' and the trainer got it right, Rover is the girl he said,
he was meant to add also something about the size but didn't. The
steward did, it was he that bought the 'blue whale' counter phrase to
the hearing. They laughed, and laughed again when the trainer asked
for it to be explained.

 

He got fined, he had to be monitored for a few months by the racing
department, he had to submit his returns on time from now on and not
when he thought he might, or remembered, it was acknowledged he was a
horseman with the best interests of himself and his client secondary
to that of his runners, it had to be explained to him that this was a
compliment.

 

He was left with three horses total, but was hopeful of attracting new
business. My boss moved his to Warracknabeal, and consolidated his
racing operations there. It got going too, they had some country cup
wins, always the hallmark of success. He took the staff on course on
easter Monday, a big day locally, for a sit down meal and some
terrible music and good racing.

 

Drover remained a pet, hanging around the workshop, and sleeping on
the veranda of the old house,  He was big, and shiney brown, and
nearly always watched and over saw the unloading of the dozer, then
you backed up and followed him to the pit, and over took him, they are
pretty nifty in reverse those TD25s, really. Rover was sold on, to
become a broodmare somewhere.

 

Drover had a rival, size wise, when Rocker arrived in the District,
trained by the school teacher in the one horse town further east, you
saw those two trotting on the old railway embankment sometimes. He had
raced, our Rocker, but he was a pet now. He was big too, the reason he
is being spoken about really. Rockers parents had figured in Blamey
Stakes and big efforts in Adelaide, Drover didn't have a pedigree
really, just a past.

There is a surprising  lack of opposition to these moves from bureaucrats
and politicians egged on by the "fun police" and the "anti-pokies mob".

 

I do not believe the bureaucrats and politicians have either the skill or
the will to manage something like this without doing irreparable damage to
the racing industry.

The writers "do a Alberici" by confusing revenue and profit, but I
understand their figures, and they are not paid $225-300k of taxpayers hard
earned money as "your" (as in it ain't my) ABC's  "chief economics
correspondent" 

 

How's this for a comment - if the writer had any credibility, or even a
practical IQ above 50, you might feel offended:

 

"Anyone who bets with a "bookie" or at a casino, where the operators make
the rules to endure [sic] they reap all the benefits and eliminate the risk,
needs to see a psychiatrist!"

 

To the article:

 

"..the point of consumption tax (POC) that the South Australian Govt.
unilaterally introduced in July 2017 will be adopted nationwide". 

 

I changed my address to QLD to help the bookies out, but looks like it won't
be for long. The dropkick responsible for the SA grab was Treasurer Turbo
Tom (so named because he clocked up 58 traffic offenses in just a few
years), so dumb and immoral that he used to cheat in math tests at school.
Fair dinkum, Hanson-Young has more credentials to be Treasurer, after all
she was a bank teller for a while). He made no coherent case for the tax.

TABs on the odds they offered".

 

So how did TAB respond? Increased their commissions on exotics by 20-30 %
(except on duets) and gave even bigger rebates. Why didn't they give rebates
to on-course punters instead to encourage race-course attendance?

I don't think Lux went out of business to let others have their share, and I
doubt WH is up for sale because they are making too much money. And how are
TAB punters going with the massively increased commission taken from their
winnings?

Having demonstrated how to make money from SB, I'll post tomorrow and
following days a list of suggested win bets on BetZero (only applicable if
you are still able to receive the "Official Price Guarantee" - is anyone?).
But compared to the SB "place system", which seldom goes a whole week
without turning a profit, betting win is a rockier ride.

I do not believe the bureaucrats and politicians have either the skill or

That discussion reinforces my belief that bureaucrats can stuff up anything if the dumb voters keep electing politicians who think they are smarter than they actually are and so they believe their own publicity.

Maybe I should ask David Walsh to turn his mind to penning a few words on
the proposed changes? After all he and Zeljko & Co will be affected more

Unfortunately, from my point of view, I may soon have to spend hours on
BetFair rather than in pubs! And if the others go arse up, and/or RacingNSW
and RacingVictoria continue to ignore breaches of MBL, and NTRC continues to
advise me to seek legal advice  rather than find bookmakers in breach of,
well everything legal and moral, and BF does not survive... do I?
RacingVictoria neither responded to my complaint about Centrebet's proven
breach of MBL (I provided screenshots) nor responded to my email requesting
an acknowledgement of receipt of complaint - it is clear that the
bureaucrats are covering the arses of the criminals; I have neither the
energy to pursue them in the courts, nor the willingness to pay a lawyer to
do so.

As you can see, I sent that through at 8:41 and again at 8:54 when the first
one did not appear in Inbox nor Ausrace Archives.

No point in continuing to post, or I'll get a reputation like Scotty had for
after-the-event tipping. At least it was a poor day (which I'd forewarned of

The appalling lack of regulation of corporates is exemplified by MV race 2
and the late scratching of #5, around 6/1 throughout betting.

I backed the winner with 2 bookmakers; one (Neds) deducted 7.5% from the
face value (10.5% of winnings), the other deducted 22% from the face value
(29% of winnings). Sportsbet, who tend to be the fairest wrt deductions,
deducted 12%. I've not named the cowboy because I'm not yet barred. 

But governments are not interested in that, just in taxing punters - don't
fall for the line that bookmakers pay the tax; only need to look at how much
turnover tax is paid if no-one bets, whether with the TAB or bookmakers.
