[AusRace] One that will win next time..or one of the timesafter.

Todd,

I am a total novice at looking at horses. That said, and I have wiped the
tape, my thoughts were.

It wasn't called upon until straightening.
It didn't hang on the corner.
I didn't see that it was on the wrong leg and I didn't see it change stride
(but I may have missed that in my one and only look)
It didn't accelerate the way it did in Adelaide.

Reasons?
It was too soft?
It didn't like its new mates?
It didn't like second up?
It is being prepared for longer?
Etc, etc?

It is hard to believe it did as well as it did on its first start and will
never reproduce that form again.

Cheers,

John

I thought the way it worked to the line in the last couple of hundred either
suggested that it is looking for further or that it didn't like the Sydney
way of going and therefore did its best work in the straight.

Missed the kick, settled fifth on the fence, came home as well as the place
getters after coming about 3 wide as it entered the straight, never
threatened, made up minimal ground on the placegetters, but finished better
than the rest. Didn't seem phased by the other way of going.

Cheers,

John

John,

I missed the whole day, just looked at the result's now.

Did it settle back ? or just hold ground through out.

Scott,

What did you make of the run?

OK,

We have a black booker coming up - see below

Interesting - why did Moody take her to Sydney instead of leaving her in the
race just run in Melb? Did he want the longer race? Is he setting her for
something in Sydney? Did he want the slow track? Was he scared of the
winner in Melb?

She beat Tariks by 4.8 lengths. Star Spangled won by less than a length.
(Didn't you love the race caller saying SSB is in an awkward position - I
knew I was home as he said it!)

Apart from SSB I rate the Sydney field similar to the Melb one..

Does this mean that 4.8 - 0.8 = 4 = the distance Speedy Natalie will win by?

What is the penalty for changing direction? For the trip north?

Cheers,

John

John,

I'm not in the process of doing ratings at the moment, but saw the win, very
easy, I'm not worried about the quality or the track condition, it had a
wonderful stride when let down, one of those natural horses that takes care
of itself back in the pack, just breathing along just breathing along baby,
love it.

Scott and/or Lindsay,

How did this one go in terms of last sectional compared to others that day?

OK, I'll put one in.

Moody's Speedy Natalie that won a week ago in Adelaide (Sat 11th July
Morphettville R4). She beat a few good horses senseless at her first start
over 1100m, on what Duff reckons was a Slow 6 track. I'll put her down for a
Listed race in Melbourne.

Cheers,

John

I'd love to see a black book run on ausrace for a while to see how "on the
ball" observations of our ausracers are. Let's start by seeing how Todd's
Summarise goes.

Hi all

In the second in Melbourne on Saturday, did anyone notice the run of
Summarise. Was running up behind them nicely in the early part of the
straight before the run completely closed and it was goodnight nurse. I
notice the horse had not been seen in an official trial, but it had been
scratched from one I believe. Where there is smoke there is fire and I
suspect this animal will be winning it's next run. One for the black book.
