For those interested, this is how I think I might go about it:

1.) Import a jpeg image of the track (from google earth) into AutoCad. (I'm pretty sure this is doable, but haven't tried it yet)
2.) Draw an outline following the inside running using a mix of straight lines and curves. A curve is made up of a radius and section of circumference. The smaller the radius, the tighter the turn. The total distance is known, so the individual section distances can be calculated proportionally. Therefore the outine can be described using a set of meaningful numbers that can be queried using stock standard SQL.
